Legendary downwinder in the Columbia River Gorge

The legendary Naish Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge will form part of the 2016 Stand Up World Series as one of its official long distance races to provide the World’s Best with one of the World’s best downwind runs.

After epic races in both Japan and Germany that have provided exceptional flat water conditions that were brought to life by the introduction of the Super Lap format, the desire to compliment these kind of races with a World Class downwind race has been a priority for the World Series.

The Naish Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge will take place on the weekend of the 20th – 21st August, with the World Series downwind component scheduled to take place on Saturday 20th.

Mercedes-Benz to headline stop 2 of the 2016 Stand Up World Series

mbMercedes-Benz is to headline the 2016 SUP World Cup in Germany that will take place in an all new location for this year, just outside Hamburg from the 24th – 26th June.

Scharbeutz is the new home for the Mercedes-Benz Sup World Cup as the foundations are laid for an exciting future for the venue for years to come as one of N. Germany’s premier beach destinations just 1 hour from Hamburg.

The Victoria Cup

The Victoria Cup, the 2016 Stand Up World Series season kick’s off this morning in Japan with the exciting new inclusion of the ‘Super Lap’ in the Distance Course on Day 1 of the Victoria Cup. The Super lap will provide an increased element of strategy for this flat water distance course, that will see athletes round 3 regular laps right in front of the spectators turning up to watch the action, with the super lap serving as a shorter lap that athletes can choose to run at any point during the race. 2016 World Championship Series Opener

SUP-openerIn just over a month’s time, the Waterman League and World’s best Stand Up Paddle racers will return to the beautiful Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan for the Opening event of the 2016 World Series, the Victoria Cup to be held at Zushi Beach, by Hayama Harbor.
