Surf Expo

The final stop of the European Cup will see athletes head south once again, this time to the outskirts of Rome in Italy. Santa Severa Beach and its well established Surf Expo will play host to the $10,000 5th and final stop of the 2014 European Cup, as an anticipated 30,000 people will pass through this event over the weekend (25th – 27th July) and a festive atmosphere will celebrate the close of what has already been a phenomenal run of events on the European Cup.

Camp David World Cup

Next up is Fehmarn Germany for the Camp David World Cup of SUP, stop number 3 of both the 2014 Stand Up World Series, but also the European Cup. With a new location this year and boasting $25,000 of prize-money, all eyes will be on Fehmarn from the 18th – 20th July as we will see if Connor Baxter (Starboard) and Angie Jackson (Fanatic) can maintain their ratings leads amidst the ever increasing competition. Once again, all entry and event information is available on theEuropean Cup page.

Zane Schweitzer makes it two from two

Zane

Zane Schweitzer makes it two from two on the European Cup, winning Oleron & Bilbao. Zane Schweitzer (Starboard) puts on another stellar performance today to secure another win here at Stop 2 of the European Cup presented by Starboard: the Oleron Island Paddle Challenge. With a 3rd place in the Long distance race yesterday, Zane stepped up on Day 2 of the event to secure a win in the sprint racing, duplicating his results from Bilbao and notching up another well deserved victory.

What is interesting to note here is that in Bilbao, it was in the Long Distance that Zane was able to win, finishing in 3rd in the sprint racing, whereas here in Oleron, it was the other way around, even with the Open Ocean Conditions. What it does show is that Zane has been training hard and that has proved himself not only to be one of the best of the best, but a phenomenal all rounder.

Zane is now leading the European Cup ratings and will benefit from a real boost in confidence as the World Series will pick back up in Fehmarn, Germany next month.

Make sure to check out the highlights from both days of action in Oleron on the video section of the home page at www.watermanleague.com
